Relevance

HIV-1 expresses the integrase (IN) protein as part of the polymerase gene.  It is the viral enzyme that catalyses the insertion of viral DNA into the chromosomal DNA of an infected cells.  Integrase is essential for viral growth and is a therapeutic target.

 

Cross-reactivity

No cross-reactivity with non-HIV-1 integrase proteins has been observed
